Aktion Club

Aktion Club where development has no disability

The Kiwanis Aktion Club is the only service club for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, with more than 10,000 members worldwide. Our Waynesville Kiwanis Aktion Club was chartered in October 2012 and has 27 “energetic” members who provide services throughout the Community.  Advisor, Marti Peithman, Assistant Advisor, LindaLou Chambers, and Debbie Warren from Arc, work with these members to improve their leadership and communication skills, as well as their ability to plan and work together on projects to benefit their community. The Kiwanis Club works closely with the Arc of Haywood County.

They not only volunteer with the Waynesville Kiwanis Club but they have their own service projects including “Operation Stay Warm” (warm clothing and blanket drive for the homeless); Aktion Club “old fashioned children’s carnival games” at events throughout the community; spring planting and other events at McCracken Nursing Home; letters to soldiers and nursing home residents; food drives and gathering supplies for rescued pet organizations.

They have their own Board that meets the 1st Monday of every month at 4:00 on Zoom followed by their monthly Aktion Club Meeting on Zoom the 2nd Monday of every month at 6:00.  We welcome all new members.
